Wildwood Recovery is opening its doors in Clintwood, Virginia this fall — but the mission behind it has been years in the making. Here’s who we are, what we believe, and why we built this campus specifically for Southwest Virginia.
Our Mission
Our mission is simple to state and serious to live out: helping people overcome addiction so that each person THRIVES and builds a healthier, more meaningful life. Every program, every therapy, and every staff decision at Wildwood is measured against that mission.
What THRIVES Means to Us
THRIVES isn’t just a mission statement — it’s a set of values that shapes how we operate day to day:
- Trust — We do what we say. Consistency builds trust.
- Hospitality — We treat everyone with dignity and respect.
- Responsibility — We own our work, follow through, and don’t make excuses.
- Integrity — We do the right thing, always.
- Value-Driven Care — We deliver care that truly makes a difference.
- Excellence — We strive to improve every day, and we don’t cut corners.
- Safety — We maintain a structured, high-quality environment that prioritizes safety and support for clients and staff alike.
Our Campus in Clintwood
Wildwood Recovery’s residential campus features seven separate dormitories, each with 16 beds, maintained with gender separation to provide a comfortable, secure environment for every resident. The campus is designed to promote a sense of community while respecting individual privacy — because recovery happens both in structured treatment and in the relationships built alongside it.
Why Southwest Virginia
Southwest Virginia has faced the opioid crisis with fewer local treatment resources than other parts of the state, often forcing individuals and families to travel hours away for residential care — right when local support matters most. Wildwood Recovery exists to change that, bringing comprehensive residential addiction treatment directly into the Clintwood community and the broader Southwest Virginia region, including Dickenson County. Our Approach to Care
We provide a holistic approach for both men and women, combining evidence-based therapeutic practices — including cognitive behavioral therapy, individual and group counseling, and medication-assisted treatment when appropriate — with comprehensive education and peer-based support. Our goal isn’t just helping clients stop using substances; it’s helping them understand why addiction developed, build practical life skills, and create a foundation for a life that doesn’t depend on it. Connected to the Community
Wildwood Recovery doesn’t operate in isolation. We’re part of a broader recovery-focused presence in Southwest Virginia, working alongside local community resources to help clients move from residential treatment into long-term, community-supported recovery.
